I’m Stephanie von Thaden, and I advise buyers and sellers across the Bay area Peninsula including Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Los Altos, and Redwood City as part of Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty. Since 2019, I have built my practice around thoughtful preparation, honest guidance, and a commitment to achieving the right outcome for every client.

Local Perspective
I was born and raised in Sacramento and have called Atherton and its neighboring communities home since 1993. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of how Silicon Valley’s micro-markets behave – i.e. how values shift block by block and where factors like school districts, commute patterns, zoning, and supply constraints can dramatically influence pricing.

Clients rely on me for grounded insight in so they can anticipate changes, evaluate opportunities, and avoid hidden risks in an environment defined by limited inventory.

Builder's Mindset
Before entering real estate, I served as the general contractor for my own home construction project. That experience fundamentally changed the way I evaluate property.

Today, this builder’s mindset gives both sellers and buyers a practical advantage.

For sellers, I coordinate the entire pre-market process, from inspections and repairs to painting, staging, landscaping, and vendor management, to ensure a home is positioned to achieve maximum value.

For buyers, I help you look beyond the surface to truly understand what you’re purchasing, where, and its likely improvement costs, and recognize when a deal may actually be a liability.

Strategy First
Early in my career, I worked in high-performance sales environments at Oracle, Nextel, and Arbor Software. These roles demanded disciplined preparation, precise communication, and outcome-driven negotiation under time pressures, skills that now underpin my real estate practice.

It has also shaped my approach to marketing with a focus on strategic positioning, targeted outreach, and a controlled narrative that generates demand and competitive urgency.

Recognition & Relationships
My work has been recognized in Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty’s Significant Sales multiple times. Much of my business comes from referrals and is supported by longstanding relationships within the brokerage community.

I prioritize education over persuasion, even advising against a transaction when it isn’t the right move. Protecting your downside is always part of my job.

Community Leadership & Integration
Beyond real estate, I have been actively engaged in community leadership since 1998. I have chaired fundraising events that have collectively raised millions of dollars and served as President of Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton Parent Association leading more than 75 volunteers.

I have also served as Vice President and Chair of various events for the San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary and have held recurring chair roles for The Peninsula Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired helping lead donor outreach and fundraising initiatives. I have also served on philanthropic boards.

My Approach
